"Mr Trouble" & the Crater in the Couch!

Oh, my goodness - what a mess we have with Charlie and the new Crater that he put in the couch! I have had puppies who have chewed up my designer shoes, when I was working, and "Mr Trouble" has been taking outside Dick's glasses, his shoes, my shoes, my solder, kleenix, pens, pencils, magic markers, paper towel and anything in a trash can and so many more things but now he decided to chew up the couch last night when we were on the phone with Cory - how special! We were both really pissed but how long can you be mad when that sweet little face is staring at you!

I guess that as he gets older, it will get better! Hope it is soon!

Thoughts & Prayers!

This is to give everyone thoughts and prayers to Pat K., our fantastic beading friend and her struggle with cancer - the ugly word. She has been so much fun in our lives with her singing and her moving and her grooving to any music!

She has been so ill and we keep hoping for her recovery but I think now it is time for her to go with God! Pat, we love and will miss you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much and please give us lots of grief when you pass over! We all love and will miss you soooooooooo much!

Sharon Noorda gave this to her 2 years ago and it meant so much to her!

Love you, Patty Cakes!

"Alaska"

After watching Sara Palin's Alaska program, I would be amiss if I didn't share with you my friend from Alaska, Angie, with whom we used to work at Curves! I love Angie and it was about 4-1/2 years ago she moved from Vegas to Alaska so her husband could work on the Alaska pipeline and she fell in love with Alaska. We have kept in touch and one thing thing in my bucket list is to go visit Angie in Alaska! Her son bought the Curves franchises in Alaska and Angie manages all of them! She lives across the lake from Sara Palin and has met the entire family who she says are so delightful! She and Sara have the same hair dresser which doesn't surprise me - how many good hair dressers are there in Wasilla, Alaska??

When Angie started at Curves, she was overweight and asked me to help her, which I did and she has now lost 130 pounds and I am so proud of her - see pictures! She was here about 3 weeks ago and we met for breakfast and when she walked in, I couldn't believe what I saw! She had lost 130 pounds and she looked absolutely fantastic! Good going Angie, keep it up!!!!

Since visiting you is in my Bucket List, I can't wait to come visit you! I'm so proud of you and love you!

"Twisted Sisters"!!!!!

Yes, that would describe two of Vickie, Kim and my other two sisters - they are worse than twisted! No more of that!

This was my last class and it was really fun and easy and great little gifts to make for Christmas!!!!!!! See the ones that I have made so far!!!

Also, we got a call that Riyoko's mom, Osako, (our daughter-in-laws mom) had an aneurism on Monday night and it was very serious. Thank God, she has come out of it and did not have a stroke but she will be in ICU for a week where she belongs! Osako is very tiny, exercises, doesn't smoke, eats healthy but loves her sweets so they also found out she now has diabetes! See, it doesn't pay to be healthy! Anyway, Osako is such a sweet lady so I made her a necklace to wear once she recovers and is able to have her husband, Hiroshi, take her out to dinner!!! We couldn't have found a nicer family for our son, Cory, to marry into - we love all of them plus Riyoko has a sister, Yoko, who lives in Japan and flew home to be with her parents!

Earth, Wind, & Fire!

I have a cabochon that I beaded around and now I am working on the neckstrap - may be finished by Christmas!!!!

This started as a stone and then I shaped, rounded it and polished it! I very proud of this piece and named it Earth, Wind, & Fire - beading around the cabs is probably my favorite jewelry to do!

Stay tuned to more pieces of jewelry in the near future!

It's Been a Long Time!

It's been 2+ months since I have posted to my blog! Nothing exciting in my life but have been beading away and besides that I have been working on Wedding Jewelry for a friend of a friend and it consists of four bridesmaids and five Jr. bridesmaids! I will work on it all weekend and will finish it since the wedding in is in two weeks and will post on my blog.

Halloween is right around the corner and with that, I decided to make Riyoko, our daughter~in~law, a skull necklace and earrings, 'cause she & Cory have their two dogs wearing collars with skulls. Don't know if she will wear it or not but she will still be in New York, still working on a film, and her sister from Japan and Cory will be there so maybe she will!!!

"Simply Stunning"

"Simply Stunning" is the name of the chainmaille piece that I made on Saturday at Beading Class. I loved the necklace so much that I also made a bracelet! The picture has a glare but I think it's okay for showing on my blog! As I was making the necklace, I remarked to Colleen that I didn't know which sister to give the other one to and she remarked, "I guess you don't get one then"! That's when I decided to make a bracelet 'cause I do make the sisters many pieces of jewelry which I am working on now for Christmas - you can never start too early!

Thanks Colleen, for a fun class with a fun project!

GREAT "OLE" FRIENDS!

Yesterday, I met some great friends at Table 34 (Henderson on Warm Springs) for lunch. I have had these friends since 1983 since we worked at the Sands Hotel together and we still try and get together one to two times per year!

I worked as a Sales Manager and then Director of Sales at the Sands and the blonde with the short hair is Lori and she worked in Catering with Terri, the blonde with the longer hair. The gentleman (probably first time he has had ever heard that from us three broads) is Chris who was our Banquet Chef! The other lady is Marge, Lori's mom, and we are lucky to have her join us every time we get together for lunch!

Lori & her husband have invited an exchange student from Korea to live with them for this next school year and Lori hates Kimche - she has taken a couple of books out from the library to see what she can cook Korean style.

Terri has her own Meeting Planning Company and she is very successful! Terri and her husband just spent a month in Italy and Greece with their two children, Kyle (18) and Alex (11). Kyle is going into college in the fall (I was Kyle's first babysitter - OMG, I really am old)! Al is really a Princess and I keep telling Terri that she is going to be a pole dancer 'cause she loves to strut her stuff!!!

Chef Chris is now the Executive Chef at the Southpoint and he recently went to the Whitehouse for Feed the Kids (something like that) to cook for the children! He and many other Chefs from all over the US had an opportunity to see Michelle Obama's garden and she spoke to them for about 20 minutes. They did their cooking at different hotels in the DC area!

I am so lucky to have so many "Ole" friends from every place we have lived and each time I can be with them, brings back so many memories and we just pick up where we left off!

Our Latest Puppy, Charlie!

All of you know that we have a new puppy, Charlie, by default - long story and you have all heard it so I won't go into details again!

Charlie will one year old next month, we have had him since May and what a pip, little fart, and Bad Charlie!! My sister, Kim, goes Charlie, Charlie, Charlie 'cause that's what I'm always texting about but he has gotten into so much trouble!

One day after we first got him, I went outside and found some wire all twisted into an interesting design, brought it into Dick and he told me that it was my solder so the little fart got into the lower shelf of my work bench - I now have baby gates on both sides of the work bench! Then a couple days later, I found Bella chewing on my bottle of flux - so much for that bottle of flux!!!!!!!! If I don't close the bathroom doors, he comes out with a roll of toilet paper that has been all chewed up and he loves to read the newspaper and TV guide until it's into shreds and, of course, loves to blow his nose! Need-less-to-say, he sleeps in a crate at night and he doesn't mind! Anyway, Charlie, has been such a fun addition to the other two dogs and three kitties! There's never a dull moment in the Myler household.

Happy Belated Anniversary to Cory & Riyoko!

Happy Belated Anniversary to Cory & Riyoko who celebrated their 10th anniversary on the 14th and their 9th anniversary on the 14th as well!!

They got married at Lake Mead 10 years ago and then one year later they got married again in LA on top of a tall building (outside) with a gorgeous view - they never told anyone why they were invited to a party and surprised both Riyoko's parents and Dick & I - I guess you can never have too many marriages for those two!!!

They didn't get to celebrate with each other this year 'cause Cory is in Mississippi working on a movie and Riyoko was in LA with the dogs. She is now in New York working on Men in Black 3 - I offered our Pug for the movie but Cory informed me that the Pugs they use in the movie are kept on a diet to be nice and lean - I'll bet they don't have one eye like our Puggles and are definitely not shaped like a basketball!! Oh well, their loss!

Anyway, Happy Anniversary to the best son and daughter-in-law in the world - we love you!

Happy Birthday, Kim!

Happy Birthday to my sister, Kim, 54 today (OMG, I hope that's right) who lives in Florida and comes to visit every Christmas Holiday and this year, I am lucky to have her come in August for three weeks!

When she visits, we will go to a couple of Colleen McGraw's beading classes and then spend lots of time in the craft room making jewelry! We will also do some lunches with the girls and check out the beading stores to see if we are missing out on anything!

These are two necklaces that I made for Kim. Unfortunately, the small green one has so much bling on it that you can't see what it says! It says, "I (heart) You"!

Happy Birthday, Kimmie! I love you!

BACK TO SCHOOL!

Well, I went to a class yesterday and it was very fun except for my headaches - I did manage to finish my bracelet at home yesterday!

Yes, I did take the abuse from Tanya & Jackie about my skinny ankles but I told them I would rather have skinny ankles than "Cankles"! Jackie was very hung over so she was in one hell of a mood, not letting up on Colleen or me!

Here is my bracelet from class and two more of my Baseball Cuffs - they are fun to do but they do take some time! I will probably make a few this weekend.

Did I Hit a Home Run with These?

Tanya first made the baseball bracelet which was found in Bead Unique and then Jackie and Tanya had a class at Jackie's so Jackie could make hers. I couldn't attend but I did finish mine and one for a friend, Sherry, who I know from Curves, so she could wear it at her husband's softball tournament in Reno. Can't make a softball bracelet but maybe it could work as a belt!

Mike's team's colors are the blue and red so I did blue embroidery on one side with red fire polish and vice versa on the other side!

Mike & Sherry bought lvsoftball.com and Sherry said that when it's finished, she will feature these two bracelets on the website and if anyone wants to order one, they can contact me!

They were fun and kept me off the streets and out of the bars!!!!!!

My 65th!!!!!

What a whirlwind of a month for my 65th birthday! I also have two friends who have birthdays in March so it was a month of presents and lunches/dinners! Now I have to go on a very strict eating plan! I still have one lunch to go!

Cory, Riyoko and Wenyee (a friend of the kids and ours, too) came home for the weekend (my birthday was the 27th) and we had so much fun. Friday started out with lunch with Carla at Kings Fish House at the District - this is the best place for fish, especially crab cakes! Then Saturday Dick took us girls to the Auction, where he buys "stuff" (my new favorite word) for his garage sale, (Cory was at his Fantasy Baseball thing that he does). After that we headed to Lake Mead Cruises, where Dick used to be the GM, walked down to the vessel and threw popcorn in the lake for the carp. We then headed to Hoover Dam for the girls to go down and walk through and then we headed to Boulder City for lunch at Mel's diner and shopping! When we got home, the girls took a nap and I worked in my craft room. For dinner, we ordered 3 different types of pizza, stromboli and a nice big salad from Carmines for dinner. Eat, eat & eat again!

On Sunday Cory took the girls to the movie, "Hot Tub in a Time Machine" which was really funny - Dick stayed home to work in the garage for his next Garage Sale. Then Sunday evening, we headed to Texas de Brazil at Town Center for a fabulous dinner of salads, appetizers, and lots of delicious meat - if you have never been to a Brazilian Restaurant, you must try this one. Dick and I have been to one in LA twice and a long time ago we used to go to one on Paradise Road but it doesn't compare to Texas de Brazil! We then came home and the kids headed back to LA and Dick and I just collapsed and I am still trying to catch up on my sleep!

Thank you to Cory, Riyoko, Wenyee and all of my friends for all of the wonderful gifts!

The best thing about being 65 is being on Medicare!!!!

My Last Jewelry Class

Last Friday Jackie & I took a free-style neck-strap class where we needed to design first one side around our pendant of choice and then the other side. Well, guess who didn't bring their pendant but I knew I was going to use one from one of previous copper classes but that was of no use that day since I didn't have it. Jackie was kind enough to give me one of hers that was perfect which came from the perfect girl!

We were supposed to have each segment tell a story - well, I can tell you any story you want to hear! When we finished one side, we could do the other side the same or different and mine was a little of the same and a little different. This class was fun and I am sure it will help me in the future in designing a neck-strap instead of what I sometimes do now which is find a bead cord that matches the pendant or just string beads with maybe a crystal!

The outside neck strap is the one I recently made and the one in the middle is one I could also wear to give it a layered look!

Yes, I know my picture is sideways - what else do you expect from me?

What a Lovely Day in the Neighborhood

What a rainy day in the neighborhood it has been - a good day to stay in and do what you like doing!

We spoke with our friends in the DC area and they were all ready for the big "dump" which they did get, however, they did stock up on lots of food and plenty of liquor - friends after my own heart!

I spent most of the entire day in my craft room working on more jewelry and made a necklace for my friend, Cheryl, in DC! Will work on more tomorrow.

I have attached a picture of my pool and, hopefully, you can see the rain falling.

I'm Back!!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I have been off-line for quite sometime and I am back but I haven't taken any recent pictures of any of my jewelry and I don't really have any new news!

My friend, Carla, had her birthday on Wednesday and today I took her out to lunch to The Yard House and gave her her gifts but they are on my phone and wouldn't transfer to my computer - what is a girl supposed to do - I need Riyoko here to help me!!! I have attached a picture of her with her 5-month old granddaughter, Ella - what a precious girl! Aren't all babies!

Going to watch Super Bowl on Sunday - my Steelers aren't playing but I'm going for the Saints-they have never been to the Super Bowl and after Katrina, they deserve to win - Go Saints!

Doing 3 Jewelry Classes this month so I will put them on my blog - stay tuned!!!!!!!
